OK, here's a little bio. I am a married mom of three adult children, Marianne, Rick and Ryan and grammy to 1 yr old Isaac. I am an elementary school teacher. This year I am running a computer lab for the first time and loving it!
Bill and I were married September 11, 1983. We bought our current home in 1986, moving in on New years Eve with not much furniture but we did have a party!
Our home was built in 1959 as a small 2 bedroom, 1 bath home with a tiny eat in kitchen and a small living room. I don't know how more than 2 people could have lived in such a small house. In 1979 the house more than doubled in size with the addition of 2 bedrooms including a large master suite, a new country kitchen and family room. It was our dream house when we bought it but I always loved log homes so in 2004 we decided to cover the house in white pine log siding. We also built Bill a workshop to match the house. Its where he hides. Sadly he doesn't do wood work but repairs and builds computers there.
I call my style of decorating "Southern Comfort." It is a mix of antiques we have inherited from our grandparents, overflow from our parents, thrift store and yard sale finds. Blue is my favorite color and appears as an accent in most of the public rooms.
I discovered the prim forums when I was looking for ideas to redecorate my kitchen and my love of primitive style has grown from there. I have repainted walls and cabinets, stenciled and made-over a lot of small pieces and a couple of large ones. My biggest makeovers include a grandfather clock which I painted black and a hutch, also made over in black. I get a real thrill from finding a bargain at a thrift store and seeing what it can be.
I have found so much inspiration and made so many friends here on TTP.
Each of you are a blessing to me.!
